
Keyey decisions aimed at restoring calm and clarity in the Sunyani Traditional Area emerged from a high-level meeting convened by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs on Monday in Sunyani.
The meeting brought together King Makers of the Sunyani Traditional Council and Area, the Omanhemaa of Sunyani, and other sub-chiefs to deliberate on the long-standing Sunyani Stool case. After extensive discussions, the parties reached a number of resolutions to guide the traditional leadership and promote peace in the area.
Foremost among the outcomes is the reinstatement and formal recognition of Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Brayie II as the Paramount Queen Mother of the Sunyani Traditional Area. The Sunyani Traditional Council affirmed her position and announced that the customary rituals associated with her reinstatement will be performed in due course.
The Council also reaffirmed Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II as the rightful and legitimate Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, alongside Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Brayie II as the legitimate Paramount Queen Mother.
In line with these decisions, the entire Boahen Korkor Royal Family of Sunyani has been entreated to fully recognize and support both Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II and Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Brayie II in their respective traditional roles.

However, the Council clarified that suspended Sub-Divisional Queen Mothers who have taken the Traditional Council to court will not be reinstated until the ongoing legal matters are fully resolved.
Concluding the meeting, the Sunyani Traditional Council issued a strong appeal for unity and peace among all stakeholders in the traditional area, emphasizing that harmony remains essential for development and social cohesion.
The Council expressed appreciation to all parties for their cooperation and commitment to the process.
The resolutions were signed off by the Acting President of the Sunyani Traditional Council.
