Wensah Foundation, an NGO in the Bono Region, in collaboration with the Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA), has offered to provide free skill training to Sandra Boatemaa from Nsapor in the Berekum District in the Bono Region.
This move, initiated by Wensah Foundation’s Founder, Mr. Isaac Osei, is intended to equip Sandra, an SHS Graduate from Jinijini Senior High School, with access to a decent job in the future to enable her to take charge of her life.
SYDA, a community and youth development organization based in Sunyani, as part of its efforts to impact the lives of the youth, runs a skills training centre that offers training in areas like fashion, weaving, solar energy technology, hairdressing, cosmetology, welding, aluminum fabrication, auto mechanics, and others.
During her enrolment, the CEO of Wensah Foundation, Mr. Isaac Osei Amponsah, who is sponsoring Sandra, reemphasized his commitment to mobilizing support towards the needy in our communities.
“I believe mankind ought to exist for each other, and because we do not share the same circumstances, it is very needful to reach out to the less privileged in order to positively alter their future,” he stated.
He further advised her to eschew peer tendencies and influences that could erode the benefits she needs to derive from her fashion apprenticeship training.
Mr. Atta Akoto Senior, the President of SYDA, reiterated the commitment of the organization to influencing the youth positively to reverse the unfortunate lifestyles that have become some kind of cancer in the lives of several young people.
He was optimistic that once the youth take advantage of the government’s entrepreneurship and innovative interventions, they would surely break free from the shackles of poverty that keep them bound.
Odombarima Baffour Awua Akomea Sakyi, the secretary of SYDA, who is also Asupra Adontenhene of the Dormaa Traditional Area, expressed appreciation to Sandra’s father, Mr. Kuma Michael, for doing his best despite all the difficulties in seeing his daughter through Senior High School education.
He also added that SYDA has structured its activities as a small effort towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals in making the world a better place.
Nana Akomea Sakyi further advised her to avoid negative influences from her peers but rather exit SYDA as a fully matured and well-trained fashion designer.
Currently, Wensah Foundation is taking care of two blind siblings at the Bechem School for the Blind and Deaf, as well as a daughter of a mentally challenged woman who was impregnated by an unknown man.
Also present during the enrolment of Sandra Boatemaa were Felix Oppong Yeboah and Atta Akoto Junior, the Administrator and Project Manager of SYDA, respectively.
Mr. Kuma Michael, Sandra’s father, who was very elated, expressed appreciation to Wensah Foundation and SYDA for their intervention in the training of his daughter.
