Ghanaian Soldier Sparks Controversy After Changing Name to “Jesus Christ”

In an affidavit cited by TheSnrKusiMedia, a Ghanaian soldier stationed at the Airforce Barracks, Burma Camp Accra, has changed his name to Jesus Christ. The name change, which was done in 2019, has only recently surfaced on the internet, sparking a heated debate among Christians and non-Christians alike.

According to documents obtained, the soldier, formerly known as Alhassan Abdulkareem Nyuwagu, declared his intention to change his name to Jesus Christ, citing documentation purposes. Clause 3 of the declaration states: “That my name appeared on my documents as ALHASSAN ABDULKAREEM NYUWAGU, due to documentation purposes, I wish my name change to JESUS CHRIST.”

The news has sparked outrage among some Christians, who are blasting the soldier for what they consider a blasphemous act. “How can he take the name of our Lord and Saviour?” one commenter asked. Another person commented, “His name looks like a Muslim so why didn’t he change it to Mohammed instead of Jesus Christ?”

However, not everyone is opposed to the soldier’s decision. Some people are arguing that a name is just a label and that the soldier’s decision should be respected. “What’s in a name?” one person asked. “As long as he’s not using the name to commit any atrocities, I see nothing wrong with it.”

The controversy has raised questions about the significance of names and their cultural and religious implications.

While some people see the soldier’s decision as a harmless personal choice, others view it as a serious offense against their faith.
