
Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area has indicated his intention to annually support Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates with examination materials to motivate students towards writing their exams.
Nana made this known during presentation of 120 mathematical sets to candidates of Nyamaa JHS and Boahen Korkor A and B JHS in Sunyani on last Thursday.
The gesture which came as a surprise to students, teachers and Head Teachers was met with warm smiles and excitement. “I have resolved to, in the coming years, donate examination materials to as many as possible BECE candidates as my token of motivation and inspiration to students within my Traditional Area”, he stated. Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II used the occasion to share words of motivation to the students.
He further advised the students to eschew any tendency to cheat in the exams particularly in the current worrying phenomenon of examination malpractice in the country.
Nana further explained his choice of starting this gesture with Nyamaa JHS and Boahen Korkor JHS as a subject of charity begins at home.
The two schools mentioned above were named after two great royals being Nana Yaa Nyamaa Puduo II and Nana Boahen Korkor I, both royals who were Queenmother and Chief of Sunyani respectively. Nana re-emphasized his commitment to extend this gesture to several schools within the Sunyani Traditional Area during a brief interaction with the media.
Responding to the gesture, Mr Thomas Diawuo, the Assistant Head Teacher of Nyamaa JHS who was shocked by the visit of the Paramount Chief thanked him for remembering them and further opined that Nana’s gesture would serve as a motivation to the examination candidates to excel in the upcoming examinations.
On their part, the Headmistress and Headmaster of Boahen Korkor A and B JHS, Nana Afia Kwamaa Addae and Mr Kwasi Boanu respectively thanked Ogyeamansan for the kind donation and the immeasurable motivation that he has given to the students.
