Mr. Ransford Antwi, a native of Sunyani and a member of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family has called on the Bono Regional Security Council, Regional Peace Council, Queen Mothers Association, Local Council of Churches, among others, to call the Queenmother of Sunyani, Nana Akosua Asor Sika Brayie, to order, for consistently engaging in acts that have the potential to disturb the peace in Sunyani.
In an exclusive interview with Suncity Radio, in Sunyani, Mr. Antwi expressed worry over the conduct of a Queenmother who has demonstrated clearly that she does not care about the peace and tranquility that is enjoyed in Sunyani.
”How can someone who has taken a matter to court and lost be running commentary in a manner that suggests she doesn’t even understand the whole court processes”, he asked?
One would have thought that losing her injunction application would have made her a bit sober but she’s still moving to other courts, organizing press conferences upon press conferences and making disparaging remarks about our Chief, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II and the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.
The same institution in 2023 earlier had rejected an application to injuct her from holding herself as Queenmother, Mr. Antwi added .
According to him, the actions of the Queenmother are uncalled for and if not called to order, would provoke the people to respond appropriately.
”Sunyani has remained peaceful regardless of our developmental challenges but to have a Queenmother who will openly go against the will of the people and our ancestors is beyond normal, he said.
How can a Queenmother be behind an attempt to bring thugs from other towns to force an installation of Chief, after losing in court?
Mr. Antwi further stated that the Queenmother herself has a case before the Bono Regional House of Chiefs challenging her installation among other reliefs but the other parties have chosen to remain quiet, allowing due processes prevail. Why can’t she do same, he queried ?
He further called on the Security Agencies and other stakeholders to hold the Queenmother responsible, should tensions escalate or if there’s any casualty, God forbid.
The people are united behind Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II and the overwhelming welcome accorded the new Omanhene should have sent a message to the Queenmother and her cohorts,he concluded.
