
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both school and private candidates. A total of 569,236 candidates, comprising 282,703 males and 286,533 females from 19,505 participating schools, sat for the examination.
Notably, 483 candidates with special needs participated, including 59 with visual impairment, 263 with hearing impairment, and 161 with other test accommodation needs. The examination was conducted across 2,123 centers, with 3,845 candidates absent.
In addition, 1,390 private candidates registered for the examination, consisting of 750 males and 640 females.
WAEC has taken measures against exam malpractices, canceling subject results for 377 school candidates and 3 private candidates, and entire results for 41 school candidates and 1 private candidate. Results for 33 school candidates and 3 private candidates have been withheld pending further investigation.
Candidates can access their results through their respective schools or the WAEC website. However, WAEC warns stakeholders to beware of fraudsters promising to upgrade results for a fee, emphasizing that WAEC results are secure and can be authenticated.
